About the book
In March 1987 the Margaret Pell, a scalloper out of Wren Harbor, went down off Gull Rock with four men aboard. The town held a service, put up a plaque and stopped talking about it.
Forty years later, in the week the ice goes out of the harbor, someone starts leaving lit lanterns on the rocks where she sank. One for every man. Then a fifth.
Nell Corliss knows the town's habit of forgetting better than anyone. This time she's going to need it to remember.
