One flat fee.
Two meetings.
No hourly bill.
The first meeting designs your plan: who inherits, who's in charge, who would raise the kids. The second is the signing, with our notary and two witnesses in the room. In between, you read the drafts at home.
The fee is set in writing before the first meeting. It changes only if your family or property changes, and we tell you before we do any work outside the plan.
A trust plan is $3,400 flat.
That covers the trust, a pour-over will, both powers of attorney, the health care directives and a new deed for your Colorado home, recorded for you. Couples pay $3,900.
How it works

Meet. First meeting, about 90 minutes, here or on Zoom. You decide who inherits, who's in charge and who would raise the kids.

Sign. Second meeting, about 45 minutes, in our office. Our notary and two witnesses are in the room, so it's done that day.

Fund. We record your new deed with the county and send a letter for each account. Thirty days later we check that every one moved.
Probate or a trust
A Colorado probate stays open at least 6 months, creditors get 4 months to claim, and the will goes public. A trust skips all three.
Probate in Colorado
- Time
- 6 to 12 months
- Likely cost
- $8,000 to $20,000
- Privacy
- The will and court filings are public.
A funded trust
- Time
- 2 to 4 months
- Likely cost
- $3,900 flat
- Privacy
- No court file. The trust stays private.
An illustration, not a quote. Colorado sets no probate fee: the court filing is $199, and attorney time is usually billed by the hour. Trust figures are our published flat fees for trust administration.
Our attorneys
- Admitted in Colorado, 1998
- Reg. no. 28417
- 4310 Tennyson Street
Margaret Calder has written wills and trusts for Colorado families since 1998, first at a downtown firm and, since 2011, from a converted house on Tennyson Street. She started this firm to do one thing well: plans people understand, at a price they know before the first meeting.
She works with Daniel Wynn, who writes plans for business owners, and Priya Raman, who builds plans for families caring for someone with a disability. You meet the attorney who signs your plan.
Free workshops, and no sales pitch.

Questions families ask
Do I need a trust, or is a will enough?
A will is enough for many people who rent, or who own a Colorado home and can use a beneficiary deed. A trust makes sense when you have children under 18, property in another state, a blended family, a business or someone who receives benefits. The plan builder tells you which, and why.
What does the flat fee include?
Both meetings, every draft and revision, the signing with our notary and two witnesses, the new deed for one Colorado property and its recording, and funding letters for your accounts. Contested matters, tax returns and work in other states are not included, and we tell you in writing before any of it starts.
How long does it take?
Most will plans take about three weeks from the first meeting to signing, and most trust plans three to four. Plans with a business take about five, because we read your operating agreement first.
We own property in another state. Can you help?
Yes. Your trust can hold it, so your family avoids a second probate there. We're licensed in Colorado only, so a local attorney in that state prepares the deed. We coordinate, and they quote their own fee.
Is the first call free?
Yes. The fit call is 20 minutes, by Zoom, phone or in our office. We confirm the plan and the fee, and you decide whether to book the design meeting. There's no charge and no obligation.
What if our family or address changes later?
Every three years we send a reminder and offer a free 30-minute review. If you have a baby, marry, divorce, move states or sell a business, call us sooner. Most updates are a flat $450.
