2025, in books.
Our annual report for July 2024 to June 2025. Every figure on this page is a sample for this concept build, and each says how it was measured.

The year, counted.
Did reading improve?
Reading specialists at each school, not our staff, test every K to 3 child with DIBELS 8th Edition oral reading fluency in September and again in May. We report every child who started, including the 9% who moved schools during the year.
Kids with a reading buddy
Same grades, same schools, no buddy
At or above the DIBELS 8 benchmark, sample figures. The comparison group was not randomly chosen; families opt in, so we read this as encouraging, not as proof.
Books home, by month
The June jump is Summer Shelf: three extra books per child before the summer break.

What didn't work
Saturday sessions at two schools averaged under 40% attendance, so we moved them to Tuesday afternoons in January. Attendance there rose to 71%.
Our first family survey went out only in English. 18% of our families speak Spanish, Arabic or Bengali at home, so every note now goes out in all four.
We guessed books would be lost on the way home. Families reported 3% missing, so we stopped printing spares and put that $1,300 into Summer Shelf.
