How fast do med spas answer?
We're timing how quickly 100 US med spas reply to a new patient's first question, on their contact form, Instagram and phone. We couldn't find an independent study of med spa reply times, so we're running one.

new-patient inquiries waited more than 5 minutes for a reply
How we estimate this
10,488 US med spas (AmSpa, 2023) × about 66 new-patient visits a month each (245 visits a month, 27% of them new, AmSpa 2024) ÷ 30.4 days × 82.9% of businesses that don't reply within 5 minutes (Conversica secret-shop of 100 companies, 2023, cross-industry) = about 18,900 a day, counted up through the day on New York time. Real inquiries outnumber visits, so this is on the low side. It's an estimate, not a measurement.
Status
Testing runs from October to November 2026. Results publish here and in The Follow-Up once all 100 are done.
For context: when Harvard Business Review audited 2,241 US companies, 23% never answered an online lead at all. HBR, 2011

How the test works.
Plain rules, so any owner can check our method.
Pick 100 med spas
Single-location practices with three or more providers, across at least 10 states. 25 a week for four weeks.
Ask one question on three channels
The same short question on each spa's contact form and Instagram, and a call after closing time. Asked under Jerome's real name. We never invent a patient and never book a slot.
Stop the clock
At the first useful reply from a person, or an auto reply that offers a way to book. Anything over 72 hours counts as no reply.
Close the loop
We thank every practice that replies, so nobody chases a lead that isn't coming. Calls are never recorded.
Publish without names
Median reply time per channel, the share that replied in under 5 minutes, and the share that never replied. No practice is named or identifiable.
Are you one of the 100?
